John T. McCahon, 93, of Elverson, PA, passed away in his residence on February 5th, 2025.
Born in Bryn Mawr, PA, John was the only child of John and Rebecca (McDermott) McCahon. John was always a bright kid and had a way with numbers. He pursued this skill in his undergraduate studies at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and pushed on to get his MBA from St. Joseph's University.
Following his education, John served as an Officer in the United States Navy from 1955 until 1965. Afterwards, John came back home to work as an accountant for the Army Corps of Engineers, among other companies, for many years. His passion and skill with numbers never disappeared throughout his entire life.
On May 14th 1955, John married the love of his life, the late Joan M. McCahon, with whom he shared four children: Joan M. Murray, Joseph J. McCahon, husband of Jody, the late James J. McCahon, and the late John G. McCahon. He was also blessed with three grandchildren: Christopher Murray, husband of Tyler; Patrick Murray, husband of Gabriela; and Sean Murray, husband of Madison.
John loved spending time with his family, specifically going on cruises with them during his time off from work. He was also a frequent attendee of local opera performances with his wife and had a lifelong love of ships of all kinds. He will be missed dearly by all of his family and all those who knew him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in John's memory on Saturday, February 15th at the Church of St. Benedict, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Mohnton, PA 19540, at 10:00 am. A viewing will be held in the church from 9:00 until the start of the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Denis Cemetery, 2401 St. Denis Lane, Havertown, PA 19083. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home is honored to serve the McCahon family. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
