John Mazzacca, 85, died April 29, 2013, in The Highlands at Wyomissing.
He was the husband of Doris M. (Heinbokel) Mazzacca.
Born in Rutherford, NJ, he was a son of the late John and Sarah (Gianetti) Mazzacca.
He was a graduate of Rutherford HS in 1945 and Muhlenberg College in 1949 graduating with a BA in Religion, Philosophy and Sociology.
John first worked for the YMCA in social group work for ten years specializing in teenage clubs and camping. He then was employed for U.S. Plastic and Chemical Corp., Metuchen, NJ for a number of years. John was part owner of US Cosmetic Corp in Wayne, NJ; then became the owner/operator of J. Mazzacca Corp., Wayne, NJ. His newly formed company purchased raw materials, inventoried and supplied to: cosmetic, printing and coating, and hobby and craft industries. He operated this business for 28 years, selling his business on December 31, 2003. He continued working after his retirement.
John was the municipal chairman of Wayne, NJ Democratic Organization.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Lee A. (Mazzacca) Castelli, wife of Greg Yelenoc, Wyomissing. There is one foster daughter, Roberta (Sickles) Mouser. Two grandchildren, Josef Yelenoc and Marley Castelli also survive him.
He was predeceased by siblings, Louise Mazzacca, Josephine Brandon, Anthony Mazzacca and Alfred Mazzacca.
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 3, 2013, at 2 p.m. in The Highlands Cultural Center.
