John L. Miller

John L. Miller, 82, passed away July 1, 2024, in his Cumru Township residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was the loving husband of Gloria E. (Care) Miller.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Edward T. and Kathleen M. (Evans) Miller.

John dedicated 37 years of his life working as a truck driver until his retirement from Maier's Bakery in 2004.

A devout Catholic, John was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.

He also was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.

John served our nation proudly and valiantly in the US Navy.

He found pleasure in stock car racing, hot rods, and antique cars, as well as camping in various locations, with a special fondness for Gettysburg and Florida. His passion for Civil War History was evident in his love for these destinations.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to BAYADA Hospice for the care they provided John.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Johnna A., wife of Kyle Miller, and their children: Cameron Miller and Joshua Miller; Anthony J., husband of Elizabeth Miller, and their children: Caleb Miller, Luke Miller and Sarah Miller; and Christine, wife of Jeffrey Lebo, and their children: Stacie Thomas, Samantha Lebo and Lindsey Dreyer. He is also survived by two great grandsons, Lawson Dreyer and Brooks Dreyer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 2600 St. Albans Dr, Reading, PA 19609 with military honors and burial to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. A viewing will be Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
