John F. Kurzweg

John Francis Kurzweg, 85, of Fleetwood, died October 26th at 12:54 am in St. Joseph's Hospital where he had been a patient since October 23rd.

He was the husband of Betty (Schade) Kurzweg, whom he married June 11, 1955.

Born in Fleetwood on March 16, 1921, he was a son of the late Francis Adolph and Lucretia Pearl (Himmelberger) Kurzweg.

He was a 1938 graduate of Fleetwood High School.

John was an Army Veteran of WWII.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fleetwood.

John was employed 40 years at Kurzweg Painting and Paperhanging, Fleetwood.

He was later employed 11 years as a deliveryman by Kutztown NAPA until his retirement.

John is also survived by a son, Duane Scott husband of Robin J. (Maeder) Kurzweg of Ruscombmanor Township and a daughter, Kim Renee wife of Rodger J. Hess of New Holland, Lancaster County.

Other survivors include four grandchildren; Marci Prutzer, Kristofer Kurzweg, Stephanie Hess and Matthew Hess.

There are also four great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters; Harold O. Kurzweg, Robert E. Kurzweg, Grace E. Kurzweg and Ethel M. Gordon.

Services will be Monday at 10:00 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale with the Rev. Michael L. Reist officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.
