John R. Knockstead

John R. Knockstead, 73, Muhlenberg Township, died March 13, 2009 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

He was the husband of Kathleen A. (Cleary) Knockstead for 49 years.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Mary L. (Werner) and Robert Knockstead.

John was employed by ACME Markets for 42 years, retiring in 1994.

In addition to his wife he is survived by 5 children, Theresa A. of Reading; James R., husband of Melissa M. of Exeter; John (Jack) E., husband of Lori A. of Reading; Peter J. of Washington, D.C.; and Andrew M. of Reading.

There are four grandchildren, Lauren A., Megan B., Christopher M., and Sarah E. Knockstead.

He was predeceased by his brother, James Robert Knockstead.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, at 10 A.M. with a one hour viewing before the Mass in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 1018 N. 8th Street, Reading. A viewing will also be held Tuesday, from 6 to 8 P.M. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum.
