John Joseph Meas

John Joseph Meas, 83, formerly of Laureldale and of Spring Twp., died October 3, 2017, in Tower Health of Reading.

His wife, Arlene M. (Riegel) Meas, died August 22, 2011. They were married October 14, 1961.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Ralph A.and Anna L. (Freet) Meas.

John was a chef for Arner's Family Restaurants and later The Abraham Lincoln Hotel for over 40 years, retiring in 1996.

He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean Conflict.

John is survived by his son, David J., husband of Debbie R. (Nygard) Meas, with whom he resided. There is one brother, Robert, husband of Joyce Blew, Hamburg, and extended family members, Ronald, husband of Peggy Tobias; Roger, husband of Karen Tobias; and Sharon and Jessica Nygard.

He was predeceased by three sisters: Carol, Edith and Sarah; and one extended family member, Joan Tobias.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 8, 2017, at 12:30 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Friends may call one hour prior from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
