John J. Klump, Jr., 88 of Mohnton, passed away Monday, October 16, 2017 in Manorcare Sinking Spring.
His wife Audrey J. (Baxter) Klump, died June 8, 1996.
Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late John J., Sr. and Grace (Ryan) Klump.
Klump was employed for 44 1/2 years as a tool and die maker by Textile Machine Works, Rockwell International, and Arrow International, Wyomissing.
He was a 1947 graduate of Reading High School and graduate of Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute. He retired in 1991.
Associated with the New Visions Community Federal Credit Union, Klump served over 28 years as a director on the board and twelve years as a chairman. He also served as a director on the credit unions in Pennsylvania for several years.
In May 2005, Klump was awarded the Joseph A. Moore volunteer of the year life time achievement award by the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association. In 2006, New Visions Federal Credit Union merged with Discovery Credit Union. Klump was elected to serve as director on the Discovery Federal Credit Union Board for two years.
Klump served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant in the Korean Conflict. He was treasurer and financial secretary for 14 years with USWA Local 8467 at Arrow International.
He is survived by a son, Joseph E. Klump, husband of Ting Klump, Grand Prairie, TX, and a daughter Barbara, wife of Richard Ilg, Milan, MI. Other survivors include three grandchildren: Jeffrey, husband of Callie, Taylor, and Erika, and two great grandchildren: Camryn and Jackson.
He was predeceased by a son, George P. Klump in 1982, a sister, Anne Klump, in 1986, and his companion Dolores Deluca, 2017.
Klump was a life member of VFW # 6150, Sinking Spring, and also a life member of Pioneer Hose Co. # 1, Robesonia, PA. He was a member of St. John Baptist De La Salle Catholic Church, Shillington.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 20, 2017, at 11 a.m., in St. John Baptist De La Salle R.C. Church, 420 Holland St, Shillington, PA 19607. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, PA 19611.
