John Hermanovich

John Hermanovich Jr., M.D., beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on September 14, 2013.

He is survived by wife of 38 years, Jean Hermanovich, children, Greg Hermanovich, Marisa Hermanovich, Esquire, and Mark Hermanovich, Esquire, daughter in law, Lisa Hermanovich, granddaughters, Olivia Hermanovich and Cecelia Hermanovich, and father-in-law Harold Purvis.

Born on July 11, 1948, John was the only child of John Sr. and Helen (Sawka) Hermanovich, of Mayfield, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Pennsylvania State University, summa cum laude, and Thomas Jefferson University Medical College, with honors.

John spent 30 years as an Interventional Cardiologist with Cardiology Associates of West Reading at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center. He was an early pioneer in interventional cardiology at the University of California, and spent 25 years as Director of the Catheterization Lab at Reading Hospital. He was truly blessed to have had the opportunity to touch and heal the hearts of many over the course of his career.

John also enjoyed a successful second career as a coach for his sons' Wyomissing youth baseball teams for 10 years, followed by many memorable summers spent in Avalon, New Jersey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Thursday from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. 739 Penn Ave. West Reading, PA 19611.
