John Basil "Jack" Gray III, 84, formerly of 222 Evans Avenue, Wyomissing, died June 21st at 8:15am in the Skilled Care Unit at the Highlands of Wyomissing where he had been since March 5, 2002.
He was the husband of Helen (McSweeney) Gray, a resident of the Highlands at Wyomissing.
Born in Prince Frederick, Maryland, he was a son of the late John B. Jr., and Aimee (Truan) Gray.
He was a 1937 graduate of Calvert High School, Prince Frederick, Maryland and a 1941 graduate of Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland.
Gray was a Army Veteran of WWII.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading.
Gray worked for 30 years as a Electrical Engineer for Western Electric before retiring in 1980.
He is also survived by a daughter, Ann G. (Gray) Jakabcin of Falls Church, Virginia and a son, Robert L. Gray of Huntingtown, Maryland.
Other survivors include a brother, Frank T. Gray of Baltimore, Maryland and two sisters; Sue (Gray) Gorton and Sara (Gray) Barroll both of Bloomfield, Conn.
There are four grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, James A. Gray (Died May 1958).
Funeral services Friday 9:30 am in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Viewing Friday 8:30 - 9:30 am in the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 10:00 am in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading. Rev. Joseph DeSantis celebrating. Entombment in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum, Muhlenberg Township. Contributions may be made to Carol Jean Cancer Foundation Inc., 10718 Cleos Court, Columbia, Maryland 21045.
