John D Goshert

John D. Goshert, 79, passed away on Thursday, July 14th, 2022 at Reading Hospital and Medical Center in Reading. He was the husband of Patricia (O'Boyle) Goshert, with whom he shared 21 years.

Born in Lebanon, he was the son of the late John C. and Pauline (Netzley) Goshert. John served in the Army National Guard in Pennsylvania, and later worked as a Project Engineer for the Reading Company and Conrail Railroads.

John was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved traveling with his wife which they did for many years, especially to their favorite spot in New Hampshire. His interest in the Civil War took them to many historical sites. He was also a member of the Lehigh Valley Yankee Fan Club.

John was a man of strong faith and ran a Bible study for many years. He put his love for Jesus in action by going on many mission trips to help people in need. He served as President of the Wilson Area Food Pantry for 12 years.

In addition to his wife, Patricia, John is survived by a son, Joseph A. Goshert-Hossain (husband of Taniya); a daughter, Amy L. Achey; two step-daughters, Shelly A. Birchess (wife of Bryan) and Deborah Beidler; brother, Richard N. Goshert; sister, Ruth E. Herr; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly A. Kreitz.

John's family will be holding a Celebration of Life at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 28th, 2022 at the Cedarville United Methodist Church, 1092 Laurelwood Rd Pottstown, PA 19465. The family will receive guests at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service.
