John J. Gibney

John J. Gibney, 93, formerly of Wyomissing, died December 1, 2007 in the Mifflin Center.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Matthew J. and Gertrude (Arnold) Gibney.

He was a 1933 graduate of the former St. Peters Catholic High School, Reading.

John worked for 23 years as a knitter at the Berkshire Knitting Mills, Reading, and last worked as a janitor for 16 years at the Bank of Pennsylvania until retiring in 1979 .

He was a past Treasurer for many years for the Animal Rescue League.

John was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading and for many years served in the choir at the church.

Survivors include seven nephews and twelve nieces.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00am in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, PO Box 6217 Reading PA 19610. Friends may call Thursday 6:30pm-8:30pm. in Edward J.
