John T. Fundyga Sr., 81, of Muhlenberg Township, died at home, suddenly, June 25th, 2015.
He was the husband of Janice L. (Hidalgo) Fundyga; they celebrated 60 years of marriage September 18th, 2014.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late John R. and Joy M. (Zelano) Fundyga.
He was a 1952 graduate of Reading High School.
John worked over 30 years as a lithographer for Offset Impressions, Reading. He worked at Berks County Services Center, retiring in 2001.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Reading.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Karen L. (Fundyga), wife of Fred L. Moreadith, Muhlenberg Township; John T. Jr., husband of Bonnie L. Fundyga, Exeter Township; and Craig M. Fundyga, Los Angeles, CA; and four grandchildren: Amanda L. Moreadith, Gabrielle R. Fundyga, John T. Fundyga III and Connor J. Fundyga and many nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his sister, Irene (Fundyga) Schwambach.
A pure lover of life with an unmatched wit, John was known for his bottomless jokes and ability to make everyone laugh at any occasion. He never hesitated to vocalize his inexhaustible love for his wife and family, and he was at his happiest surrounded by the ones he loved, with a dog on his lap. He was a long-time Phillies and Eagles fan, dating back to the '60s, when Eagles season tickets were $20 for the entire season … $2.00 per game!
He was a coach for Rising Sun Youth Baseball League and played basketball for the Jewish Community Center in the early 50's. John loved to dance. He could do it all, especially jitterbugging with his wife or anyone willing. He loved to walk his dog and just be a friendly neighbor. He knew all the dogs in the neighborhood, but didn't always know the owner's names.
You could always ask John anything about old movies, which he loved to watch. John loved playing board games and cards with his family. John was a great guy and will be missed by everyone.
Special thanks to Dr. Joseph Cavorsi for all his kindness and friendship through the years.
