John H. Feeney, passed away October 10, 2013, in his Muhlenberg Township residence surrounded by love after a lengthy illness.
He was the loving husband of Sylvia S. (Wentzel) Feeney who he was married to for 55 years.
Born in Jonestown, he was a son of the late John H. and Mary (Breton) Feeney.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
John was employed for 25 years by Sealy Mattress Company. He also worked for 15 years as a shipper at Brown Engineering.
He was a member of St. John Baptist de La Salle Roman Catholic Church, Shillington.
John enjoyed playing poker with his card club buddies and long weekends at the shore with his friends; even though his score never improved much he enjoyed playing golf.
He loved traveling with his wife Sylvia and especially enjoyed a trip to Glasgow, Scotland two years ago to visit his granddaughter.
Anyone that met John was drawn to him instantly by his humor and love of life. He has left a hole in our hearts that can never be filled and he will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Susan M., wife of Timothy M. Dougherty, Wyomissing and Melanie L. Aiman, Sinking Spring; his brother Donald, husband of Jane Feeney, Shillington and two sisters, Joan Loose, Birdsboro and Alice Pingitore, Reading.
John is also survived by three grandchildren, Bridget E. Dougherty, wife of Joseph Slavick, Glasgow, Scotland, Timothy John Dougherty, Wyomissing and Molly K. Aiman, Sinking Spring.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas Feeney and Leo Feeney and three sisters, Mary Bickleman, Margaret Hrzick and Julia Morasco.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, October 18, 2013 at 10 a.m. in St. John Baptist R.C. Church, 420 Holland St., Shillington, PA 19607. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum. Friends may call Friday from 8 to 9:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611.
