John F. Thorne

John F. Thorne, Jr., 89, formerly of Northmont, died April 3, 2012 in Berkshire Center, Exeter Township.

He was the husband of Mary G. (Bortzel) Thorne, who died February 27, 2004.

Born October 19, 1922, in San Francisco, CA, he was a son of the late John F., Sr. and Hazel E. (Olsen) Thorne.

John was employed as a plant supervisor for 25 years with Reading Techmatic retiring in 1984.

He was a member of Holy Guardian Angel's Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park.

John served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

Surviving are two children: John F., III, husband of Mary L. Thorne of Birdsboro and Kathleen M. Hochman, widow of Steven Hochman of Chevy Chase, MD.

Other survivors include four grandchildren, Jacqueline, wife of Al Iacovella, Alex Thorne, Shannon and Sean Hochman and two great grandchildren, Robert and Nicolas Iacovella and a brother Robert L. Thorne of Alameda, CA.

John was predeceased by a sister, Maxine Mitchell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angel's Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, Hyde Park. A viewing will be held from 9-10 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutzown Road, Laureldale. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
