John R. Dobson

John Roy "Jack" Dobson, Jr., 79, died October 3, 2007 at 9:00 am in his Cumru Township residence.

He was married April 26, 1952 to Irene J. (Tinus) Dobson, of Cumru Township. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this year.

Born in Shamokin, Northumberland County on May 23, 1928, he was a son of the late John R. Sr., and Margaret I. (Doney) Dobson.

He was a 1947 graduate of Mohnton High School.

Jack was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and a recipient of the Purple Heart.

He was a 32nd degree Free and accepted Mason with the St. John's Lodge #435, West Reading for over 35 years.

Jack was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gouglersville, where he was a past member of Church Council.

He was employed 36 years with Polymer Plastics, Reading, retiring as a cost estimator in 1989.

Jack is also survived by four children, Eileen J. wife of Douglas C. Rentschler of Jefferson Township, Jacquelyn A. wife of Dean Y. Hirneisen of Cumru Township, John R. III, husband of Shelly M. (Haehlke) Dobson of Fullerton, Calif., and Jill I. wife of Bryan Bourgeois of Underhill, Vermont.

Other survivors include a sister, Patricia A. wife of Merlin L. Mohn of Reinholds, Berks County.

There are also eleven grandchildren, Chad, Derik, Ryan, Kirsten, Michelle, Erin, Kelsey, Claire, Alex, Sophia and William and a great grandson, Logan.

Jack was predeceased by a grandson, Christopher Rentschler, who died November 8, 1982.

Services will be Saturday at 10:00 am in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 19 Vermont Road, Sinking Spring, PA 19608. A viewing will be held from 8:45 to 9:45 am in the Church with a Masonic Service starting at 9:45 am. Burial with Military Honors will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring Township.
