John Calvaresi, 81, of 1536 Colony Drive, Colony Park, Spring Township, Wyomissing, Pa 19610, died February 9th at 4:04 pm in the Reading Hospital where he had been since Saturday.
He was the husband of Rose Marie (Pagnotti) Calvaresi.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Alessandro and Frances (Bernardini) Calvaresi.
He was a 1940 graduate of Reading High School where he was the class president.
Calvaresi was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading.
He was a Knight of the 4th degree with the Knights of Columbus #793.
Calvaresi was a co-owner for over 50 years at Calvaresi Food Markets, Reading, until his retirement in 1996.
He was a Army Veteran of WWII.
Calvaresi is also survived by a son, John B. Calvaresi of Spring Township and a daughter, Frances Mary (Calvaresi) wife of Tom Walters of Limerick, Montgomery County.
Other survivors include two brothers, William Calvaresi of Mount Penn and Mario Calvaresi of Shillington.
There are also two granddaughters, Gina and Maria Walters, both at home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 9:30 am in Holy Rosary R.C. Church, 237 Franklin Street, Reading, Pa 19602. Viewing Wednesday evening 6:30 - 8:00 pm in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the church at the above address.
