John L. Beavens

John L. Beavens Jr., 69, of Frush Valley Road, Laureldale, died of natural causes July 24 at 12:05 p.m. in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since July 7.

He was the husband of Leora L. (Fackler) Beavens.

Born in West Reading, he was a son of the late John L. Beavens Sr. and Lillie M. (Hartman) Beavens.

Beavens was employed for 22 years as a machine operator by Carpenter Technology Corp., retiring in 1995.

He is also survived by a son, Michael V., Fleetwood, and a daughter, Denise A. (Beavens) West, Laurelale.

Other survivors include a sister, Emma (Beavens) DiGuardi, Reading; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, John L. Beavens III, in 1999.

Services will be private. Entombment will be private in Forest Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum, Reiffton. Walter R. Christ Funeral Home Inc., Laureldale, is in charge of arrangements.
