John Amos Beard Jr.

John Amos "Jack" Beard Jr., 90, of Shillington, died January 14, 2016 in the Reading Hospital.

His wife, Bernice (Derrick) Beard died on December 14, 2006.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late John and Myrtle (Hafer) Beard.

He was a graduate of Penn State University.

Jack was a CPA and managing partner for Beard and Company.

He was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing.

Jack was president of the Maidencreek Fish and Game Club.

He was a member of the Berkshire Country Club, The International Game Fish Association and The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Jack loved raising his daughter, golden retrievers and deep sea fishing with his wife.

He was an avid golfer and tennis player.

Jack is survived by his sister, Janice (Beard) Lindemuth, Wyomissing; his half-brother, Jeremiah Beard, Bernville; his granddaughter, Anne Victoria Beard Hodgkins, an art student at Virginia Commonwealth University and his son-in-law, David Hodgkins, Fairfax City, VA.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Victoria (Beard) Hodgkins; his half-brother, Johnathan Beard and his loving friend and companion, Janice Wolfe.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Atonement Lutheran Church, 5 Wyomissing Blvd, Wyomissing, PA 19610. Burial will be private.
