Johann A. Bauer

Johann A. "Hans" Bauer, 79, died July 13 at 2 p.m. in his residence on Lincoln Avenue, West Wyomissing.

His wife, Betty A.B. (Zoeller) Bauer, died Aug. 15, 1995.

Born in Nurnberg, Germany, he was a son of the late August and Walburger (Nagengast) Bauer.

Bauer was employed for 21 years as technician by AT&T Reading Works, Muhlenberg Township, retiring in 1986.

He was a life member of the West Wyomissing Fire Company.

Bauer played for the German Americans soccer team from 1953 to 1954 and for the Reading Amerks from 1954 to 1960.

Surviving are two brothers, Walter, Winfield, Union County, and Josef, Nurnberg; and a sister, Ella (Bauer) Hensel, Wichita, Kan.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring Township.
