Joanne Elizabeth (Rhode) Pugliese, 81, died December 28, 2010 in her Jefferson Township residence.

She was the wife of Dr. Peter T. Pugliese whom she married July 2, 1949.

Born November 18, 1929 in Cleveland, OH, she was a daughter of the late Martin E. and Louise I. (Koester) Rhode.

Joanne was a 1947 graduate of Hanover High School, Wilmington, NC.

A loving wife and mother, she was proud of her role as a homemaker.

Joanne was a member of St. Margaret's R.C. Church, Reading.

She was a member of Bernville Women's Club and Women's Auxillary Berks County Medical Society.

Surviving are four children: Steven M., husband of Sasha (Trudnowski) Pugliese of Jefferson Township; Patricia L. (Pugliese), wife of James J. Rentschler of Muhlenberg Township; Susan L. (Pugliese), wife of Patrick H. Sickafus of Upper Tulpehocken Township and Peter M. Pugliese of Amity Township.

Also surviving is a sister, Louise Bryan of Ocala, FL.

Other survivors include eight grandchildren: Michael Q, Steven C., Garman R., Lauren E., Kiara J., Malachi J., Isaih J. and Ethan L and many nieces and nephews.

Joanne was predeceased by an infant daughter, Paula L. Pugliese and a brother, Carl Rhode.

A Catholic Requiem Mass will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Margaret's R.C. Church, 925 Centre Avenue, Reading. A visitation will be held one hour prior to mass in the church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
