Joanne D. Koch

Joanne D. Koch, 93, formerly of Wyomissing, and of Lancaster, passed away on November 27, 2023, in Lancaster General Hospital.

Her husband, Richard H. Koch, passed away on March 2, 2018. She enjoyed 67 beautiful years of marriage.

Born in Lancaster, she was a daughter of the late Charles M. and Mary (Weber) Deiter.

She was a graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School in 1947, Albright College in 1951 with a degree in Home Economics, and earned a master's degree from Kutztown University in Guidance and Counseling.

Joanne was an elementary teacher at Muhlenberg School District for nine years. Later, she was a guidance counselor at Cocalico for 17 years, retiring in 1987.

She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Lancaster PA and Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing.

Her interests were needle work - she knitted beautiful afghans, crossed stitched baby quilts for all the "littles" as well as bibs, onesies, and t-shirts. She enjoyed women's bible study groups and attended vespers with her husband Rich - where they were greeters. She loved traveling - seeing almost all of Europe and the United States. She loved spending time in St Pete's Beach, the Florida Keys, and Dewey Beach Delaware. She was always up for the challenge of a jet ski ride with her grandkids or a boat ride with her son-in-law. She was a very AVID reader.

Joanne is survived by two children, Kathleen J. (Daniel) Langdon, Wyomissing and Jeffrey D. (Dara) Koch, St. Pete Beach, FL; nine grandchildren: Matthew (Renee) Langdon, Kate (Stephen) Moyer, Christopher (Allison) Langdon, Marybeth (Bradley) Potasiewicz, Megan (Charlie) Langdon; Jennifer (Matthew) Schlegel, Melanie Koch, Jeffrey D. (Ashley) Koch, Jr., and Dr. Brandon W. Koch, and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two siblings, C. Daniel Dieter and Faye D. Groff.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a memorial service to begin at 11 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading.
