Joan Gloria Schwambach, 84, died March 11, 2013, in her daughter's Spring Twp. residence, surrounded by her loving family. Her husband Charles A. Schwambach died October 3, 1993.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Charles W. and Bessie (Trout) Krick.

She was the co-owner and operator, with her husband, of Queen of the Valley Diner, the original owner of the Hitching Post Restaurant, both on Penn Avenue, and Schwambach's Diner, Rte. 61 in Temple. Joan and her husband enjoyed working together for over 30 years, retiring in 1995.

Following the restaurant business, Joan was the co-operator of Fun Place Oley Bingo along with her daughter Joni.

Joan was an active member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing, and participated in numerous groups.

She was dedicated to her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joan is survived by her children, Charles W., husband of Rosalie Schwambach, Dallas, TX; and Joni L., wife of Christopher V. Boland, Spring Twp. There is one sister, Patricia, wife of Paul Schaeffer, Reading. Five grandchildren, Shane T., husband of Rebecca Boland; Ashley A., wife of Brett Amberson; Jennifer R., wife of Keegan Orzechowski; Dustin C. Schwambach and Kyle Z., husband of Larissa Boland; and five great-grandchildren, Annie, Tyler, Evan, Luke and Quinn also survive her.

She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Shirley Krick.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Atonement Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Dayspring Homes, 430 Hazel St. Reading, PA 19611. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
