Joan Marie Philistine

Joan Marie (Hettinger) Philistine, 77, died January 17, 2014 in her Alsace Township residence.

She was the wife of Samuel John Philistine who died May 17, 1990.

Born May 7, 1936 in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Stuart Graeff and Marie Elizabeth (Englehart) Hettinger.

Joan was a 1954 graduate of Reading High School.

She was employed as a receptionist with Reading Hospital for 40 years, retiring in 2002.

Joan was an avid reader and loved knitting and gardening.

Surviving are her four children: Robin, wife of Patrick Reedy of West Reading; Lori, wife of Gary Caligiuri of West Grove, PA; Michael, husband of Stacy Philistine of Laureldale and Scott, husband of Monica Philistine of Lincoln Universtiy, PA.

Also surviving are her eight grandchildren and a great grandson.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Kuhn-Stitzel Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., Laureldale is entrusted with arrangements.
