Joan J. Edwards

Joan J. Edwards, 75, of West Reading, died August 25, 2011 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, with her loving family at her side.

Born in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Frances (Cutler) Cherka.

Joan was a 1954 graduate of Pottsville High School.

She worked as a waitress in various West Reading restaurants and then was employed by The Reading Hospital in the Housekeeping-Environmental Services Department for 20 years.

Joan enjoyed traveling to Italy, Canada, Mexico, California and Nevada.

She was a member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, West Reading.

She is survived by her son, James J., husband of Diane Sorokach, Shillington; her granddaughter, Melanie S. Sorokach-Gusley, wife of Bryan M. Gusley; and her great-grandson, Justin J. Sorokach.

She was predeceased by her sister, Helen Bainbridge; and her brothers, James Daley and Phillip Daley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart R.C. Church, West Reading. A viewing will be 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in Edward J.
