Joan E. Brady

Joan E. Brady, 85 of Leesport died June 20, 2018 in St. Joseph's Hospital. She was the wife of Michael J. Brady. Joan was born in Orwigsburg and was the daughter of the late Edward and Naomi (Schoener) Shiffert. Joan was a 1951 graduate of Orwigsburg High School and a 1955 graduate of Kutztown State Teacher's College. She taught elementary education for 13 years in the Blue Mountain School District and 1 year in the Schuylkill Valley School District. Joan was an active member of the Bern Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Consistory and Senior Berners. She was a former member of the Schuylkill Valley Ambulance Auxiliary. In addition to her husband, a son, Michael J. Brady III husband of Jenifer, a daughter, Beth A. Brady wife of Jason Skinner, Pompano Beach, FL. and a grandson, Blake D. Brady, survive Joan. Additional survivors are a brother, Edward Shiffert, and a sister, Joyce Beneck both of Orwigsburg. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 25 th at 11:00 a.m. in the Bern Lutheran Church, 820 W. Leesport Road, 19533. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg.
