Jessie May Linton, 93, formerly of 321 Clifton Ave., Reading, passed away September 26, 2014 in the Mennonite Home, Lancaster.
Her husband of 57 years,William H. Linton Sr., died January 16, 2005.
Born September 8, 1921 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Hugh and Florence (Krug) Paton.
Jessie was a graduate of Kensington High School.
Jessie was a member of One U.C.C., Kenhorst, where she and Bill were known for spearheading the handmade candy Easter egg project for the church fundraisers.
She worked tirelessly as a devoted volunteer for many years for the American Cancer Society, Mt. Penn.
Jessie delighted in being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She took great pride in her homemaking skills. She made clothing, quilts, afghans, baked from scratch, and prepared particularly memorable meals for anyone lucky enough to be her guest. Her home was often filled with laughter.
Jessie is survived by her two children, William H. Jr., husband of Joy Linton, Lancaster and Barbara J., wife of Thomas E. Voelker, Wyomissing. Also surviving are her six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in One U.C.C., 1730 New Holland Rd., Shillington, PA 19607. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to One U.C.C. at the above address. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
