Jeri K. Devlin, 76, Exeter Township, died October 12, 2007 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
She was the wife of Martin E. Devlin.
Born in Marion, IN, she was the daughter of the late Hugo and Harriet Kuester. She received her bachelor's degree in Education from Western New Mexico University, her master's and doctorate in Special Education from the University of New Mexico. She taught high school English and Drama in Tucson, AZ and Deming, NM. She founded a school for mentally handicapped children in Santa Fe, NM, and served as Director of the Bonaparte School for the Mentally Handicapped in Chicago. She was Director of Special Education for the Denver Public Schools in Denver, CO and for the Reading School District.
She was a member of Catharine of Siena RC Church, where she served as Lector and Eucharistic Minister.
Her life-long passion was the stage, and she was active in many theater groups as actress, director, or makeup artist.
She is also survived by a daughter, Kate Kelsay, Denver, CO, a son, Bruce Kelsay, Wheaton, IL, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass well be celebrated in St. Catharine of Siena Church, Exter Township on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Friends may call at the church from 9 to 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 498 Bellevue Ave. Reading, PA 19605.
