Jennifer A. Mowbray, 59, of Wyomissing, passed away July 9, 2011 in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with her loving family by her side.
She was the wife of Charles S. Mowbray, III, whom she married March 5, 1977.
Born in Conway, SC, she was the daughter of the late Angelo H. and Mary G. (George) Karetas.
She was a 1970 graduate of Reading High School.
Jennifer was an executive assistant for the PA Department of Environmental Resources, a customer service manager at Millennium Aviation an administrative assistant at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. and a long-time, full-time loving mother.
She was a member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Reading, where she served as president of the St. Xenia Philoptochos Society. Through the church she participated in numerous charitable and outreach functions, including a successful fundraiser to facilitate the building of a new addition of the church. She was also a former member of St. Matthews Greek Orthodox Church, Reading, where she was a member of the parish council and served as treasurer
Jennifer had a strong devotion to her faith and to many charitable endeavors. Growing up, she moved many times around the country. No matter where she lived she was able to make new friends. Her compassion and network of people that loved her were countless. Jennifer enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, and had a big heart for her pets, including her most recent rescue, Fletcher. She had a passion for life and believed in the power of positive thinking. Jennifer was a beloved wife and mother, and dedicated to her family. Her inner and outer beauty and her faith only increased over time. Jennifer is adored by her husband Chuck and together they share a special, everlasting bond.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Kara A. Mowbray, fiancée of Keith R. Hoffman, Sinking Spring and Matthew C. Mowbray, Wyomissing. Also surviving are her brother, John M. Karetas, Lower Alsace Township; two nephews: Alexander and Jordan Karetas and two nieces: Marcia and Anabella Mowbray.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Sts. Constantine and Helen Church, 1001 East Wyomissing Blvd., Reading, PA 19611. A viewing will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sts. Constantine and Helen Church at the above address. Edward J.
