Jelke Van Maanen

Jelke "Jack" van Maanen, 79, of Reading, died November 24, 2011 in Berks Heim.

Born in Amsterdam, July 3, 1932, he emigrated to the U.S. in 1957. He lived in NY until 1991 when he moved to Reading and worked at Reading Coffee Roasters, owned by his brother, Albert van Maanen and Rose Mary Hartigan. He retired at 62 and as a hobby worked at Renningers Market selling and repairing watches.

He is survived by his two children: Robert van Maanen, Staten Island, NY and Linda van Maanen-Casey, wife of John Casey, Maspeth, NY. Also surviving is are his siblings: Jan van Maanen and Rudolph van Maanen, both of The Netherlands and Albert van Maanen, West Reading; his two grandchildren: Samantha van Maanen and Brandon van Maanen, both of Staten Island, NY; two nieces: Michelle Lyman, Seattle, WA and Fran Varela, Salt Lake City, UT and his faithful doggie, Rosie.
