Jeffrey P. Young

With great sorrow we share that Jeffrey P. Young, 61, of Exeter Twp., went to God on June 30, 2021, at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center.

He was the loving husband of Sandra L. (Pehlman) Young; they had been married for over 25 years.

Born in Cloquet, MN, he was the son of Joan R. (Huard) Young, Reading, and the late Thomas G. Young.

He was a graduate of Reading High School in 1977.

Since 1991, he was the owner of Buy Rite Liquidators, Inc., Blandon. He also worked for the Diocese of Allentown as the Director of Procurement.

Jeff was an active member of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Penn.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the finance committee at HGA Parish; served on the board of Catholic Charities and the Bishop's Commission for Catholic Education and was the head of the finance committee for the founding board of Berks Catholic.

Musically blessed with the ability to "play by ear," Jeff masterfully entertained loved ones playing the piano. He had an affinity for boating and fishing. Jeff passionately celebrated and loyally practiced his Catholic faith supporting numerous charitable endeavors. He fostered deeply supportive friendships and was fervently devoted to his wife, Sandy, and family.

Jeff is also survived by his children: Carli R. (Joseph) Creely, Mohnton; Matthew J. Young, a student at St. Joseph's University; and Abigail J. Young, a student at Cabrini University; and two grandchildren, Jacob and Luke. There are seven siblings: Andrea (Michael) Worcheck; Thomas (Jamie); Mark; Robert (Egda); Renee (Jodi) Royer; Stephen (Donna); and John.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday July 7, 2021, at 11 a.m. at St. Catharine of Siena Church, Boyertown Pike, Exeter Twp. with burial to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park. A viewing for family and friends will be held Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Catholic Charities.
