Jeannette Wertz

Jeannette Geise Wertz, 96, of West Reading, died Monday, December 29, 2008 in ManorCare, West Reading.

Her husband, Mervin Jacob Wertz, died December 22, 1986.

Born in Shenandoah, she was a daughter of the late Ervin and Rebecca (Jones) Geise.

She was the co-owner, with her husband, Merv, of Wertz's Sandwich Shop, West Reading from 1947 until her retirement in 1990.

Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn W., wife of Rodney McGrath, Spring Twp.; her sister, Ethel (Geise) Stamm, Reading; six grandchildren, Mervin Wertz, Lancaster, Susan McGrath, Wyomissing, Elizabeth McGrath Brubaker, Bozeman, Montana, Rodney McGrath, Jr., Wyomissing, Kelly Wertz, West Reading and Shannon Wertz, Reading; and three great-grandchildren, Harry Nauman, Wernersville, Jackson Brubaker, Montana and Taylor Wertz, West Reading.

She was predeceased by her son, Mervin G. on April 25, 1990. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Ellsworth, John and Griffith Geise; and two sisters, Lydia Buchalter and Elizabeth Geise.

Services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before the service.
