Jeanne A. Snyder, a retired elementary teacher and musician, died Feb. 15 at 620 p.m. in ManorCare Health Services Inc., Muhlenberg Township, where she had resided since Feb.6.

Snyder, 84, formerly of Pennside, was taken to ManorCare from Country Meadows of Wyomissing.

She was employed for 20 years as a reading specialist in Alexandria, Va., and was employed for 13 years as an accordion instructor by the Zeswitz Music Co., Reading.

Snyder was employed five years as an elementary teacher in the Antietam School District until her retirement.

She was a teacher of the violin and piano.

Snyder was a member of the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra and the Philharmonic Orchestra in Alexandria.

She was a member of the Kutztown Community Orchestra and played with pit orchestras at Reading, Muhlenberg and Wilson high schools.

Snyder entertained at retirement and nursing facilities and was a member of the senior citizen handbell choir at Trinity Lutheran Church, Reading.

She was an active member in the Berks County Senior Citizens Orchestra for more than 20 years.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late John B. and Edna (Frankford) Snyder.

Snyder was employed by the Office of Price Administration during World War II and a tour escort for Roamer Tours in Europe, Canada and USA. She also tutored at the Pentagon.

She was a 1937 graduate of Reading High School and a graduate of Albright College with a bachelor's degree in psychology. She was also a graduate of Reading Business Institute.

Surviving are four nephews.

Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
