Jeanne S. Slichter

Jeanne S. Slichter, 67 formerly of Shoemakersville, died Sunday June 22, 2014 in the Kutztown Manor, Kutztown. She was born in Reading, PA. and was the daughter of the late Stanley and Elizabeth (Schreffler) Bailey. Jeanne was a 1965 graduate of Hamburg Area High School and the Reading Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse at the Hamburg Center for 29 years retiring in 2003. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Hamburg. Jeanne is survived by a son, Jeffrey L. husband of Jodi Slichter, Tilden Township, a daughter, Chanda N. wife of Michael Gallagher, Reading, and 5 grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Beth wife of Paul Heckart, Mohrsville, and 2 brothers, Donald husband of Karen Bailey, Hamburg and Larry husband of Ann Risser, Schuylkill Haven. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM from the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc., 40 S. 4th St. Hamburg, PA 19526. A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM and on Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg.
