Jeanne Frieda (Hunter) Reber, 89, died January 20, 2011 at 4:45 am in the Lutheran Home at Topton. She was the wife of Sydney Augustus Reber, whom she married June 8, 1942. Born in Cressona, PA on October 9, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Earl S. and Frieda E. (Naffin) Hunter. She was a 1939 graduate of Muhlenberg High School, where she was the validictorian. She was also a graduate of Helen Moore Hoffman Business School. Jeanne was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale, where she was also employed 46 years as a secretary before retiring in 1999. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Elizabeth Herr Chapter No. 131. Jeanne loved to sew, plan trips and travel, having been to all 50 states, Europe, Australia and Iceland. She is also survived by two sons: Sherwood A., husband of Wileen Reber of Muhlenberg Township and Kerwin S., husband of Susan Reber of Schwenksville, Montgomery County. Other survivors include two siblings: Donald H., husband of Miriam Hunter of Temple and Ruth L. (Hunter), wife of Glenn Kohler of Muhlenberg Township. There are also three grandchildren surviving: Christopher S., husband of Christina (Mowery) Reber of Muhlenberg Township; Tara M., wife of Thomas G. Murray of Collegeville and Adam V., husband of Tabitha Reber of Alexandria, VA. In addition, there are are four step-grandchildren, Michael Drogo, Crystal Taylor, Frank Figueroa and Lou Figueroa; a great grandson, Nathan Taylor and a second great grandchild expected. Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. Viewings will be held Sunday evening 6:30 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services in the funeral home. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
