Jeanette L. Drey

Jeanette L. (Fisher) Drey, 90, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, in the care of Celebration Villa of Exeter.

On Mother's Day, May 10, 1936, in the Reading Hospital, with snow on the forsythia, Jeanette was born to Pearl (Bigelow) and J. Herman Fisher. She graduated from the former West Reading High School in 1954. She was a member of the National Honor Society and was editor of the school paper, "The Lariat," in her senior year. Also worked on the yearbook staff, "The Vaquero." She played basketball and field hockey, and was a Varsity cheerleader for four years. She loved swimming and spent her summers at the local pool. She could often be found in the art department making advertising posters for school events.

After graduation, she got a job at Peoples' Trust Bank in Wyomissing in the Bookkeeping Department. Jeanette married Dale Reichert in 1955, and they had two sons, Robert A. and Barry M. Reichert. She spent 10 years working at Kawecki Berylco as secretary to the mill manager. After her divorce from Dale, she worked part-time for five years as a fine dining waitress before getting called to work at the Reading Plant of Lucent Technologies, formerly A.T.&T. She left there in 1993 with 20 years of service after meeting Richard Drey on a blind date. The couple married and moved to Richard's home in Brunswick, Georgia, and spent the next four years traveling for Richard's salesman job in the lumber industry, selling saws and knives.

When Richard became ill, they returned to Pennsylvania, where he passed away. Jeanette worked part-time after his passing, mostly at the Fairgrounds Farmers Market at a seafood stand. Jeanette continued living in her Bern Township home with her numerous cats, deer, possums, raccoons, and other wild animals (she was a big animal lover). She stayed there until moving to Oakshire Senior Apartment complex in Glenside in 2019. She loved movies, cooking for friends, planning reunions for her high school class and Lucent, lending a helping hand when needed, but most of all, she loved her family.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Richard in 1977; her ex-husband, Dale, in 2016; her half-sister, Charlotte Brunner; and her brother, John H. Fisher. She is survived by sons, Robert A. Reichert, fiance Deborah Evans, of Northampton, and Barry M. Reichert of Reading; grandsons, Zachary (Amelia) and Nicholas Reichert; great-grandchildren, Whitney and Benjamin; and step-children from her marriage to Richard.

Contributions in Jeanette's name may be offered to the Animal Rescue League, 58 Kennel Rd, Birdsboro, PA 19518, or to a local humane society.
