Jean A. Stankiewicz

Jean A. Stankiewicz, 83, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023 at the Berkshire Commons. She was the loving wife of Frederick J. Stankiewicz, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage before his passing in 2022.

Born in Fleetwood, she was the daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Zielinski) Hartz. Jean was a devoted wife and mother. She loved to bake and, for a time, she and Fred were the go-to pair for decorated cakes for all occasions. Jean enjoyed playing bingo, scratch-off tickets, and the occasional trip to the casino. But her jackpot was her family and she loved spending time with them most of all.

She is survived by daughters, Sharon, wife of Skip Derecola, Pottstown and Lorie, wife of Johnny Ferraro, Sinking Spring; two grandchildren, Jessica, wife of Kyle Simonye, and Austin Ferraro; and one great-grandson, Connor Simonye. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Berkshire Commons and Compassus Hospice for the care and compassion they provided Jean.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St Catharine of Siena Chapel, 2427 Perkiomen Ave Reading, PA 19606 with burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Reading. Friends may call Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Contributions may be made to St Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church at the above address.
