Jean L. Schmehl

Jean Lois (Gernert) Schmehl, 77, died October 3, 2011 in her Muhlenberg Township residence.

She was the wife of Gerald M. Schmehl, whom she married June 6, 1953.

Born April 7, 1934, in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Arthur I. and Mildred (Clepper) Gernert.

Jean was an avid bingo player.

In addition to her husband, Jean is survived by a daughter, Cindy L., wife of David M. Light of Muhlenberg Township and a son, Gerald A. Schmehl of Muhlenberg Township.

Other survivors include, four step-grandchildren, Brittney Light, Vanessa Light, Jeffrey Covely and Abby Wanner and three step-great grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
