Jean "Jeanie" M. O'Boyle, 84, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Berks Heim. She was the wife of James P. O'Boyle, with whom she shared 36 years of marriage.
Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late John and Jennie (Brown) Cummings. Jeanie graduated from Reading High School in 1956 and maintained lifelong ties with her class through her membership on their reunion committee. Jeanie worked as an executive secretary for various employers. Looking for a new challenge, she changed careers and worked as a mail sorter and clerk for the United States Postal Service. When she retired in 2001, she was proud that her last position was at her local post office in Mount Penn.
Jeanie will be remembered for her smile and kind spirit as much as her flair for fashion. This included an impressive collection of shoes and purses. She loved to travel and looked forward to annual family trips to Avalon, New Jersey. She was blessed to enjoy adventures and birthday lunches with lifelong friends Gayle, Tessie, Shirley, and Rosie.
Jeanie is survived by husband, Jim; daughter, Kelly McClennan (Robert) of Wyomissing; son, Scott Starr of New York, NY; stepsons, Michael O'Boyle (Kate) of Allentown and Daniel O'Boyle (Bryan White) of Lake Worth, FL; and grandchildren: Megan McClennan, Brinn McClennan, and Michael O'Boyle.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Satoris W. Starr, Jr. and her brother, John D. Cummings.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. 739 Penn Avenue West Reading, PA 19611.
