Jean B. D'Agostino, 93, of Reading, died August 3, 2013 in Hearthstone at Maidencreek, Maidencreek Township, where she had been a resident since May 2006.
Born November 11, 1919 in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Daniel L. and Bertie C. (Weller) Schelly.
She was the wife of Andrew D'Agostino who died April 4, 1980 and the mother of Madeline "Midge" McElroy who died November 23, 1984.
Jean was employed as a seamstress with Meinig's; a tester with Bell Labs, Western Electric and as a teacher's aide with Reading School District, retiring in 2005.
She was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship Church, Reading.
Jean played volleyball into her 70s and worked until the age of 85.
A great lady, Jean was much loved. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were everything to her.
Surviving are her five grandchildren: Ann, wife of Stuart Eberly; Heather, wife of Patrick Tulley; Melissa, wife of Tadd Kelchner; James McElroy and Andrew McElroy and nine great grandchildren: Madeline Tulley, Cassondra Kelchner, Bailey McElroy, Gabriel Eberly, Quinn Tulley, Mason McElroy, Isaac Eberly, Leonardo McElroy and Vaughn McElroy.
Also surviving is her sister, Joan Biehl of Reading.
Jean was predeceased by her sister, Vilma Smith.
Services will be Tuesday at 12 noon in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery. For online condolences, visit www.kuhnfuneralhome.com.
