Jean T Charles

Jean T. Charles, of Spring Township, passed away at Reading Hospital on October 19, 2020. He was the son of the late Cornelia Alexis and Michael Charles. He was also the loving husband of Marie M. Charles (Conserve) to whom he has been married since January 24, 1981.

He was born in Croix-Des-Bouquet, Haiti on January 3, 1952, and was one of thirteen children. In his home country of Haiti, he was a self-employed tailor, and after immigrating to the United States of America he was employed first as a taxi driver for Black Car in New York City before becoming a lift operator for Four Seasons Produce Inc.

Jean was a people person and family man as a devoted father and loving husband. He was known for being a caring, passionate man who was always welcoming and willing to help others. In his free time, he enjoyed playing dominoes. He was also very involved with his church proudly serving as head of deacons and treasurer, helping to build the church, and as one of the founders of Bethlehem Seventh Day Adventist Church.

He is survived by four children; Lourna Charles-Thelusca, wife of Patrick Thelusca, Minel Charles, Berline Charles, Joanna Charles, two sisters; Jerdda Charles and Yollette Charles Bastien, two brothers; Ebeens Alexis and Monneil Charles, and two grandchildren Nathaniel Issac Charles-Thelusca and Logan Matthew Charles-Thelusca.

A viewing will be held Friday, October 23, 2020, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a prayer service to begin at 11 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Burial will be at Charles Evans Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
