Jean E. Beard

Jean E. Beard, 98, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018, in Berkshire Center.

She was the beloved wife of the late Nevin K. Beard.

Born in Wyomissing, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Theresa E. (Spangler) Kroenig.

Jean was a 1938 graduate of St. Peter's High School.

She was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church, Whitfield.

Jean was the former president of West Lawn Grade School PTA, and former vice president of Women's Club of West Lawn. She also volunteered her time with the Meals on Wheels Program.

She is survived by a son: Nevin R. Beard, Exeter Twp.; one daughter: Mary T., wife of Niles Stoudt, Punta Gorda, FL; Five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive her.

She was predeceased by her daughter Doris A. Bricker, and her siblings, Russell D. Kroenig, Carl Kroenig, Ruth Hoffman and Irene Arnold.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church, 2810 St. Albans Drive, Reading, PA 19608. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., on Tuesday April 24, 2018, at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611.
