Jay W. Reiter

Jay W. Reiter, 83, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2012, surrounded by his loving family in his Jefferson Township residence.

He was the beloved husband of Katherine C. (Bropst) Reiter, whom he married 55 years ago on November 10, 1956.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late William Henry and Emma (Howe) Reiter.

Jay was an Inspector for Dana Corporation for over 34 years, retiring in 1981.

He enjoyed trains, cars and collecting watches.

Jay was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Reading.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters: Dyanna L., wife of Michael Romich, Reading and Darlene K., wife of Jeffrey S. Doerrman, whom he resided with. Also surviving are his sister, Virginia Fichthorn, Reading; two grandchildren: Crystal D., wife of Thomas Kaytt and Dennis J. Reiter, Jr., fiancé of Nang Keomany and two great-grandchildren: Aden J. and Eli L.

He was predeceased by his son, Dennis J. Reiter, Sr., in 2005.

Services will be Friday at 12:30 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. A viewing will be 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 421 Windsor St. Reading, PA 19601.
