Janina Overley

Janina "Tanya" Overley (Bartowska), passed peacefully at home with her devoted husband by her side after a lengthy illness, on August 30, 2023. For 46 beautiful years, she shared her life with W. Scott Overley as his beloved wife.

Born in Warsaw, Poland, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Hellana (Bloomberg) Bartowski. While living in Poland, Janina studied nursing and started her career helping soldiers in the field. In the coming years, she would change her career path to teaching language, specifically Russian, in elementary schools. Finally, after settling in the US, Janina came to work as a quality control inspector for Penn Optical and Lucent until her retirement.

Janina was a member of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church of Reading. In her free time, she loved to travel back to Poland and visit her family there. Janina enjoyed spending time with her family - especially her Godsons, Devin and Keegan. She enjoyed taking daily walks and trips to the casinos.

Janina's legacy of love spans generations and includes her four stepchildren: Timothy and Craig Overley, Cindy Veal, and Patricia Mauger; 13 grandchildren; and a growing number of great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Janina is predeceased by her three siblings: Regina, Donika and Bishop, two stepchildren and a grandchild.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and Shriners Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

A Prayer Service will be held Friday, September 8, 2023 at 11 a.m. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the start of service at Kuhn Funeral Home, 735 Penn Ave, West Reading PA 19611. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
