Janice V. (Eschleman) Piper, 85 of Sinking Spring, widower of William S. Piper, who passed away February 9, 2010, died peacefully at home on February 9, 2014. Janice was the daughter of the late Leo and Ellen Eschleman. The baby of the family, she was the youngest of 6 children. She grew up in Northmont and was a 1946 graduate of Reading High School.
Janice worked for the Wyomissing School District for 27 years, beginning as a lunchroom aide in 1966 before moving to a classroom aide then finally a library aide until her retirement in 1993.
Janice enjoyed many hobbies, some of which were knitting, crocheting and crossword puzzles. For more than 50 years Janice was a member of a card club, playing mostly with family and some close friends. She enjoyed fitness which included running four miles daily with her husband, doing her "Nordic Track" and finally doing Zumba until the age of 82.
She and her husband were members of Green Valley Country Club often seen dancing the night away at Saturday night dances. She was also active on the women's auxiliary and a member of their bowling league last bowling at age 82. Janice loved life, loved a good joke, and laughter came easy for her.
Janice is survived by her daughter, Kelly, of West Lawn, and two grandchildren, Krista Colpetzer of West Lawn and Cody Colpetzer of Allentown. She is also survived by one brother, Carl Eschleman, husband of Mabel, Northmont and two sisters: June, wife of Kenneth Gehringer, and Betty Stump, widower of William Stump, Northmont. She was predeceased by her two brothers Johnny and Herbert Stump.
Janice wanted to be remembered as she was so there will be no memorial service. She will be cremated and buried alongside of her husband of 50 years in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. Memorial contributions can be made to the Animal Rescue League.
