Janice M. Novak

Janice M. (Bukowski) Novak, 76, of Muhlenberg Township, died July 27, 2012 following a six and a half year battle with cancer.

Her husband, Samuel Lattanzio, died in 2008.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Stanley E. and Jennie M. (Scianna) Bukowski.

She was a 1954 graduate of Reading High School.

Janice was an executive secretary for Baldwin Brass, in the 1960's. She then became an ophthalmic technician working for Dr. Phillip Davis; Drs. Copeland and Corbin; Dr. Stewart Cohn and lastly Dr. Neil Chesen. She also co-owned three businesses with her husband: Sam's Lounge from 1975 to 1980; The Park Hotel in Tioga County from 1980 to 1985, and Jan's Subs-N-Stuff from 1986 to 2005.

She was a democratic committeewoman in Wyomissing and Reading.

Janice loved being with her family and friends. She enjoyed trips to the casinos, shopping, socializing and making people laugh.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim Ann, wife of Kim B. Epler, S. Heidelberg Township and her step-daughter, Kim M. Lattanzio Behm, wife of Steven S. Behm, Reading. Also surviving are her siblings: Anthony E., husband of Patricia Bukowski, Reading; Ronald S., husband of Sandra Bukowski, Spring Township; Joseph N., husband of Gloria Bukowski, Wernersville and Phyllis B., wife of Luke A. Hoffman, Lower Heidelberg Township. There are three grandchildren: Alexander L. Epler, S. Heidelberg Township; Troy S., husband of Susan Behm, Windsor Township and Shaun M. Behm, Reading; three great-grandchildren: Jordan T. Behm and Paige M. Behm, both of Windsor Township and Zoe Behm, Reading and four nieces and four nephews surviving her. She will be missed by her grand-dogs: Maxie and Hines.

A visitation will be held Tuesday from 8 to 9:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Gethsemane Cemetery, Chapel of Resurrection, 3139 Kutztown Rd., Laureldale. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
