Janice E Kaucher

Janice Eileen Kaucher (nee Fetter) passed peacefully from this life into the presence of her God, on July 13, 2025, with her loving husband, Carey, by her side.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Betty Fetter of West Reading, PA and is survived by a brother, Douglas L. Fetter of Collegeville.

Born on September 14, 1948, she graduated from the former West Reading High School in 1966, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Kutztown State College, minoring in Mathematics and Science.

Janice began her teaching career in several school districts in Wyomissing, PA and Selma, AL. Upon her return to Pennsylvania, she served the County of Berks for 38 years in the Treasurer's Department, ultimately retiring in 2012 as Chief Deputy County Treasurer.

In retirement, she was very active with her husband, Carey, at the Scottish Rite, Valley of Reading. She held several leadership positions, including President of the Ladies Auxiliary, Secretary of Scottish Rite Golden Eagles Seniors Group and Sec/Treas of SRSC.

Remaining to mourn her are her loving husband of 32 wonderful, effortless years, Carey M. Kaucher, and her stepchildren, Christopher C. Kaucher, wife Kristin and their sons Caden C. and Connor T., and Curtis K. Kaucher, partner Erin Knarr and their son, Jack.

Her kindness, warmth and unwavering faith touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered in Janice's name to the Scottish Rite Cathedral Association, 430 S 7th Ave, West Reading, PA 19611.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. Friends and family are welcome for visitation from 5:00 p.m. until the start of the service. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
