Janet E. Norton

Janet E. Norton, 93 of Mohrsville died February 18, 2017. She was the widow of John R. Norton who died February 9, 2001. Janet was born in Philadelphia and was the daughter of the late Herbert and Elizabeth (Peirce) Horton. She was a graduate of Philadelphia Public Schools and attended Ursinus College for three years. Janet attended the Religious Society of Friends, Reading and was very active in her church. She was instrumental in organizing Threshold and League of Women Voters. She helped to start the Schuylkill Valley School Library and was active in the mental health community. A son Roger E. husband of Shiela, grandchildren, Elizabeth and Sarah, and great grandchildren McKenna, Connor and Jaxson and several nieces and nephews, survives Janet. A son David H. and two sisters, Barbara and Harriet, predeceased Janet. Memorial services will be announced. Burial will be in Maidencreek Friends Meeting House Cemetery. The Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangement.
