Janet Irene Merkel
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and “Grammy,” Janet, who left this world surrounded by the love of her family.
Janet was a devoted wife to her husband, Ken, and a proud, loving mother to her five children: Dustin, Ashley, Darryl, Michael, and Tiffany. Her greatest joy in life was being “Grammy” to her nine cherished grandchildren: Jocelynn, Cooper, Braxton, Brantley, Ryland, Casen, David, Owen, and Leah. They meant everything to her. She loved each of them deeply and created a lifetime of memories filled with laughter, comfort, and unconditional love. She also held a special place in her heart for her grand dog, Smalls.
Janet found happiness in life’s simple, meaningful moments. She loved camping and spending time outdoors with her family, making memories that will be treasured forever. She also shared a special bond with her husband, riding along with him in the big truck, something she truly enjoyed and looked forward to.
Her kitchen was the heart of her home. Janet was known for her cooking, especially her homemade noodles, shepherd’s pie, stuffed peppers, and her beloved deviled eggs, meals that brought everyone together and made her house feel like home. Feeding her family was one of the many ways she showed her love.
She will be remembered for her warmth, her strength, and the way she made everyone feel cared for. Janet’s love and legacy will live on through her husband, her children, her grandchildren, her grand dog Smalls, and all who were lucky enough to know her.
A celebration of Janet’s life will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at New Jerusalem Church, 1456 Krumsville Rd, Lenhartsville, PA 19534, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember the beautiful life she lived.
Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing her love will always be with us.
Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 40 S. 4th St, Hamburg, PA 19562 is honored to serve Janet’s family. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com
