James P. Weiss

James Patrick "Jim" Weiss, 85, of Hyde Park, passed away on June 1, 2024 at Hershey Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Beverly (Clark) Weiss, until her passing on October 26, 2021.

Born on December 18, 1938 in Reading, he was the son of the late Gertrude Elizabeth (Cody) and Henry Matthew Weiss, Jr. James was a 1956 graduate of Reading High School. He proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in West Germany during construction of the Berlin Wall.

He was employed as an electrician with Reading Railroad and later Conrail for 42 years, retiring in 1999. James was an avid music lover and a diehard Phillies fan. He enjoyed his weekly breakfasts with his buddies. Most recently you could find him tooling around Muhlenberg in his Mercedes Benz SUV - he loved that car.

Those left to treasure James' memory are his brother, Thomas A. Weiss; nieces: Kathy Weiss-Slemmer, Cheryl Seyfert, Heather Gapinski; nephews: Mark Hyde, Kevin Hyde, Timothy Weiss, and Matthew Weiss. He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews. James is predeceased by his sisters, Patricia A. Weiss, and Geri M. (Weiss) Seaman, as well as his identical twin brother, Henry M. "Harry" Weiss.

Services for James will be held privately at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations made in James' honor may be made to Zoe's House Inc. at P.O Box 2372, Reading, PA 19608. Kuhn funeral home is honored to serve James' family.
