James Walter Roland, 84, passed away October 1, 2013, in his Cumru Township residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the husband of Jean Mary (Hannon) Roland, whom he married 63 years ago on August 19, 1950.
Born August 12, 1929 in Reading, he was a son of the late Walter J. and Cora A. (Mengel) Roland.
He was a 1948 graduate of Central Catholic High School.
James was a general foreman for Carpenter Technologies, Reading, for 38 years.
He was a member of St. Benedict's R.C. Church, Mohnton.
James was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his son, Joseph M., husband of Kathy L. Roland, Sinking Spring, and his daughter, Kathleen L., wife of William Leininger, Denver, PA. Also surviving are his six grandchildren, Bryan Leininger, Kelly Leininger, Erick Leininger, Steven Leininger, Matthew Roland, Brenda Roland Skalski and one great-grandchild, Fiona Kate Skalski.
James was predeceased by his two brothers and his sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Benedict's R.C. Church, 2020 Chestnut Hill Rd., Mohnton, PA 19540. A visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St Benedict's R.C. Church at the above address. Edward J.
